Barry Wiesner completed an MPhil in Environmental management at the University of Cape Town (UCT). He also has a BA majoring in Archaeology and Environmental and Geographical Science (UCT). In addition he completed a Higher Diploma in Education (HDE at UCT)) and a Bachelor of Theology from the University of South Africa. Barry has extensive site experience working as an Environmental Control Officer at major construction sites and in conducting EIAs, BARs and the compilation of numerous EMPs. Barry coordinated AMATHEMBA’s involvement with the initial SMART Living Handbook for the City of Cape Town. Barry is a Green Star SA accredited professional with the Green Building Council of South Africa.

Chandré de Waard has an Honours in Environmental Science from the Northwest University (2014). and over 10 years’ experience working in Environmental Compliance Monitoring in renewable energy, mining and oil and gas industries. Chandré is a member of the International Association for Impact Assessment of South Africa (IAIAsa), and a standard member of the Environmental Law Association of South Africa (ELA). Chandré has extensive experience in compliance monitoring on large scale renewable energy projects, specifically wind. Her experience relates to enforcing and assessing environmental compliance to Environmental Authorisations, ensuring compliance to EMPrs and addressing legal non-compliances. Chandré is passionate about the natural environment and enjoys spending time appreciating nature.

Joining us in 2026, Barbara Raubenheimer has an Honours Degree (B.Sc. Hons.) in Environmental Science, a M.Sc. et Art in Urban and Regional Planning and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education Geography and Economy from the North-West University of Potchefstroom. Barbara has over 10 years’ experience in the environmental sector. She is a registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) with EAPASA and has been involved in various Environmental Impact Assessments, Basic Assessments, EMPrs and Environmental Control Officer work. Barbara has also worked as a climate change consultant and development economist – bringing a multidisciplinary lens to the team.
